Lime has shaped the industrial heritage of Dudswell since 1824 and made the heart of the village of Lime Ridge beat for 75 years. Created in 2005, The Lime Ridge House is the first centre of interpretation of lime in North America. It proposes a fulfilling guided tour explaining all about this natural resource of an unsuspected value. Used throughout the world since the era of the pyramids of Egypt, lime will be presented to you through its production; the particular geology of limestone and the history of the village of Lime Ridge have now disappeared.
Thanks to the Gardens of the Miner (gallery of photos of open-air archives) and to the memories recorded on audio-guide as funny as moving, The Lime Ridge House has revived for you this former mining village. Guaranteed surprise, pleasure and smile!
